Here is the second part the potato type experiment. This was printed out onto a 10 inch by 10 inch square, flush mounted. I like how the text was able to transform into a pattern/texture. I found that using textiles as my inspiration worked quite well.

I’m currently auditing a typography class at PSU and today we carved out type from potatoes! Harder than one may think but fun nonetheless. I am so glad that I do not have to carved my type cause I am no master carver. Anyhow, here are some pictures. The first few with the “y” and the “p” are ones that I did after class and the “z” and the “n” are what I did in class. I think the “y” and the “z” turned out the best. I still have yet to master carving a curve which is surprisingly hard.

(And yes, I do realize I printed them backwards but the second part of the exercise is to scan them in and create a composition.)
