Luminous Deer T-shirts

i think i’ve been on a slight tshirt vinyl obsession lately but here goes some more tshirts that i’ve designed. thank you to liz and steven for helping me to press and weed the tshirts. i’m glad that we’ve finally found the trick to our heat press in the studio. it makes the tshirt vinyl stay way better than before.

i designed the logo for our bfa class, which we have entitled, ‘luminous deer.’

girls got the sangria and boys got the asphalt. however, all the tshirts had white vinyl lettering and antlers on them.

for my design remix project, i was asked to redesign the swiss army knife. i ended up designing a positive male influence kit after find an article entitled, “every boy deserves a swiss army knife.” i asked what does a boy deserve now since it would not be kosher to give your child a knife. let’s be honest, your child just might be kicked out of school for having one. the knife that i designed was completely made out of felt so there physically harmless. each blade was laser cut and etched with gi joe public service announcements. my personal favorite being, “blind kids can find lost kittens too.” o gi joe!

Laser Cut Box Series

here are a few photos of the boxes i’ve been working on for my 2d design class. eventually, i’d like to make them into light boxes so that the light shines through the characters and asterisks. i’m thinking of using red led lights and wiring them to a battery. the chinese characters literally translate to contemporary design china. they are inspired by the china design now show at the portland art museum.

i’d like think of this project as an experiment in process and figuring out the laser cutter. if i were to laser cut these boxes again, i’d account more for paper thickness because opening and closing these boxes can be quite difficult since the tab is a very snug fit.
